Noir Lash Lounge

I love eyes. If someone has really pretty, big, nicely shaped, symmetrical eyes, that person is just super beautiful to me. Even if they have a nose the size of Pinocchio, the eyes are what get me every single time! (And dimples.. ooh I love dimples :P ) Celebrities whose eyes I luurveee: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Catherine Zeta Jones, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Persian model Claudia Lynx, Nicole Richie, and Bollywood babes Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan.. just off the top of my head.

Since learning how to put on false strip eyelashes (I heart lashes from Shoppers Drug Mart - Quo #806) I've used them many a time to give myself a dramatic look..best used for night time events only! However, for a recent trip to my hometown of Singapore, I decided to get semi-permanent lash extensions done to just get away with the hassle of mascara, eye makeup remover, adhesive and carrying strips of lashes with me (I was going for a wedding and anywhere photos are taken = false eyelash time).

After researching and browsing for the most professional place with the best price (there are wayyy too many basement operations, I would never trust them!), Noir Lash Lounge was recommended to me by a style-savvy friend. I called and spoke to a sweet sounding woman by the name of Joyce. She answered all of my questions (do your real eyelashes fall out, how long do they last, etc) professionally and I decided to go for it.

Dragging my guy friend with me, I went downtown to get the 2 hour procedure done to my lashes. The self proclaimed "lash lounge" was more like a girl's really stylish yet sparsely decorated bedroom with a lounge chair, a fancy chandelier, and not much else. Lounging in the chair, I honestly felt super relaxed and talking to Joyce was like talking to your best girlfriend, so all in all the two hours went by painlessly and quickly, although I'm not sure I can say the same for my friend who was dying of boredom.

When I got the cue to open my eyes...AHHHHHH THE PAIN!!! My eyes stung, it took me some mental will power to just force myself to open them because all of my reflexes were telling me to keep them closed. My eyes were watery and it hurt to look around because a bit of glue had gotten into my eyes (not an excessive amount but it's impossible to get extensions done without a little bit of glue going in your eyes). When I looked in the mirror at my lashes though, all the pain went away, they looked FREAKING AMAZING! My eyes looked more even because the lashes flared out at the ends creating a perfect, seductive almond shape. I honestly instantly felt sexier and sex-kitteny. Super glad I got them done!

Then... I went to Singapore. A humid, tropical country, with a lot of pollution. I swear my eyes were crying on the entire plane ride there and for the first few days I was there, it was pretty bad. Sleeping was horrible because you essentially want to sleep on your back with the back of your head resting on your pillow so as not to mess up your extensions. It was super uncomfortable because I love sleeping on my side, and try as I might I couldn't get comfortable without feeling like I was damaging my eyelashes, eyelashes that needed to last me the 3 weeks that I was in Singapore. On the plus side, I got tons of compliments from everyone that saw me and I literally got stopped everywhere I went and complimented on my eyelashes. No joke, it was everywhere I went. A couple weeks in, none of my fake eyelashes had fallen off of the real ones, which is what they were supposed to do, but a few of both my real and fake lashes fell out together (you can see the fake lash glued on top of the real one so they looked like two semi-circles). My eyelashes had gotten tangled up and criss crossed (from sleeping, showering) and it was basically impossible to set them straight. The worst part is, I still had to put on false eyelashes for the wedding (the wedding was one week in)!! See, what happened was, everyone who saw me was so used to me with these super long lashes. If I didn't put the fake strip on top of my extensions, I wouldn't have looked any different on the wedding day than I did for the rest of the vacation. Lesson learned: simple is best because then when you DO dress up, you only need to put on a little bit of makeup to look smashing. What I did essentially was deck it (with the extensions) everyday, so I had to up the ante even more to look different and dramatic for the wedding festivities.

Three weeks in I was so sick of my lashes and just like biting your nails is a bad habit, I developed a habit of touching my eyelashes every so often. I would pick at it and start where the eyelid meets the eyelash and try to peel the top/fake eyelash off of my real ones. Most of the time, both real and fake would come off together. Slowly, I took off all of my fake eyelashes. My real eyelashes were still there, about 65% of them. They were thin and weak, and when I put mascara on them, it didn't make any difference, they simply weren't strong enough to hold the mascara. My eyes felt naked.

All in all, the eyelash extensions were drool worthy, fantastic, amazing, orgasmic for the first week that I had them (sleeping at night was horrible from Day 1 but the results outweighed the negatives). Starting from Day 8, I wanted to rip off my eyelashes and wished I never got them done. 2 months later my eyelashes are healthy, happy and almost back to normal (I still don't feel they're exactly the way they used to be).
Would I get eyelash extensions again? I think I would, as long as I wasn't going on vacation and I was able to get them professionally taken off whenever I felt like it. The results were seriously amazing and you just felt super sexy with fluttery eyelashes. I felt like I could hit on any guy in the world and not get rejected! Well, ok I kind of feel like that most days of my life but still! Hehe. I would recommend only doing it for an extremely special occasion, a close wedding, graduation/prom, etc.
